The homeowners were not a fan of the white cabinets from day one, and had been itching to change their tile-topped island. We were determined to give this kitchen maximum impact without making too many major changes, as the footprint and layout remained the same. The homeowners wanted to make a few key changes to give their dated kitchen a contemporary style.
Project Solution:
After coming up with a plan with the homeowners, our next step was to pick out the perfect granite for their countertops that would pull together all the elements of the space. They chose Santa Cecilia granite – which is a beautiful, creamy white granite with black and dark reddish-brown mineral deposits throughout – which is a huge improvement over their tile island. Not only does the new granite help pull together the whole kitchen and give it an upscale look, it’s also much more functional and easy to clean than the grouted tile.
The homeowners had disliked their white pickle maple cabinets since the day they moved in, and wanted to choose something that would provide more warmth and depth. We upgraded the cabinets to select cherry wood with a fruitwood stain by refacing the cabinets and installed new doors and drawer fronts. We also added traditional crown molding to the cabinets for a finished look.
The flooring and backsplash remained the same at the homeowners’ request, and both ended up looking great with the new elements in the kitchen. Overall, this was a rapid transformation that turned out beautifully.
Project Highlight:
The quick timeline on this project, afforded by refacing their cabinets instead of tearing out and replacing them, is something that the homeowners really appreciated. We were able to complete this kitchen makeover in just a few days since it was very straightforward and the overall footprint of the kitchen remained the same. Cabinet refacing was the clear choice for this type of project and everything came together nicely.
